A Low Side-Lobe Slotted Ridge Waveguide Array Manufactured by Resin Injection Molding

2021
This paper presents a low side-lobe slotted ridge waveguide array manufactured by resin injection molding. The resin waveguide is divided into two parts, and both are fastened using screws and bosses. The waveguides need to be arranged closely in order to apply them to a dual-polarized phased array antenna. This requires the bosses to be pushed into the waveguide, which causes reflection waves and phase delay in the waveguide and then deteriorates radiation pattern. In this paper, we propose an iris on a ridge in the waveguide to cancel the effects of the bosses. We design an array of 16 subarrays with the proposed structure. The simulated side lobe is −32.7 dB, which validates the effectiveness of the proposed structure.
