Haematocrit, Blood Viscosity, Cerebral Blood Flow, and Vascular Occlusion

1981
Initially the evidence for a positive relationship between venous haematocrit (VH) and vascular occlusive events will be examined. In the next section the effect of haematocrit change on the rheological characteristics of blood will be presented. This will be followed by presenting evidence for the influence of blood viscosity on cerebral blood flow. Finally, the association between VH, blood viscosity, cerebral blood flow and vascular occlusive events will be discussed.
