Relación entre actividad física y características de la vivienda y su entorno en jóvenes

The objective of this study was to analyze the relacionchip between the physical home characteristics and its surroundings (as a physical activity provider or not), and its influence on people physical activity. The study included 2399 young people aged 10 to 16 years, (1.175 boys, 49% - and 1.224 girls, 51%) with a mean age of 12.7 years. In collaboration with different educational centers, a sports practice habits in young people questionnaire was administered among them, that included the following variables: home characteristics and its environment, performed physical activity hours, physical activity carried out with family, BMI and weekly screen hours. In addition, the course-navette test, were administered to measure the VO2 max. Descriptive data analysis was carried out using crosstabs, chi-square and t-tests. The study shows that young people's perception of living in environments or in homes that facilitate physical activity correlates with healthier BMI, with more hours of physical activity and more hours of physical activity with family and with less weekly screen hours. An important fact to keep in mind when planning promotion strategies and developing homes and environments that benefit physical activity.
