Synthesis and Antiproliferative Activity of Novel Thiazolidine and Azetidinone Derivatives

2013
Alteration in cell differentiation and proliferation leads to an increase in tumor cells in the body. Recent advances in tumor genesis and metastasis have provided the opportunity to design novel compounds that rationally act on cancer cells. Cancer research steps forward because of the key role of heterocyclic moieties which are present in chemotherapeutic compounds. These heterocyclic compounds are capable of reversing the process of carcinogenesis and also inhibiting the growth of tumor cells. In the present study, a series of novel thiazolidine and azetidinone derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their antiproliferative activity. One of the synthesized compounds V (N-sulphonic acid substituted derivative of azetidinone) exhibited significant inhibitory
