The Ultra High Vacuum System of the AGS Booster
1989
The AGS Booster under construction at Brookhaven National Laboratory is a synchrotron for the acceleration of both protons and heavy ions. The design pressure of 3*10/sup -11/ torr is required to minimize beam loss of the partially stripped heavy ions. The design and processing of the ultrahigh vacuum system and the performance of the prototype vacuum half-cells are described. >
