Rapid fluorescent "staining" of nondenatured protein bands in agar and polyacrylamide gels.
1971
Abstract Evidence is presented to show that fluorescence of nondenatured proteins may be induced in agar and polyacrylamide gels with the magnesium salt of 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid (ANS) by “salting-out” with (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 solutions. The practical aspects of this finding are emphasized in relation to the excellent resolving powers of preparative polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
