Properties of structural steels with solid silicon monoxide

1978
1. By adding solid silicon monoxide it is possible to obtain steel with different silicon oxide inclusions. The existence of silicon monoxide in the solid steel was demonstrated experimentally. 2. Silicon monoxide increases the resistance of steel to ductile fracture and promotes coalescence of the carbide phase during high-temperature tempering.
