2015
Eating Habits of Riverine People from the Amazons and the Effects of the Floods on the Exacerbation of Nutritional Insecurity approaches the lifestyle of the populations who inhabit the banks of the rivers of the Amazons. This review study aimed to discuss the basis of the riverside food, and possible interferences generated by the floods, emphasizing the event of the historical flood that made hundreds of families in the states of Rondonia, Acre and Amazonas homeless in 2014. We conclude that the floods worsen the food and nutritional insecurity among riverine communities due to the loss of food cultivation and water contamination. Furthermore, the flood provokes the transmission of diseases such as diarrhea and leptospirosis.
