Analysis on results of the measles surveillance in Xuchang city from 2006-2010

Objective: To analyze the monitoring situation and epidemiological characteristics of measles in Xuchang from 2006-2010,in order to provide scientific basis for measles elimination.Methods:The method of ELLSAc was adopted to examine M-IgM in the serum of suspected cases.Results:There were 618 positive cases of measles in 912 samples.The positive rate was 67.76%. Incidence was mainly in scatter instances with the existence of local outbreaks points.February to May is the high-frequency time in one year,which were mainly children aged under 15,accounting for 87.86%.The prevelence rate was 39.16% for those younger than 1 year.Conclusion: The measles is low spreading in Xuchang from 2006-2010.Children without MV immune experience were the high-risk group of measles incidence and morbidity of those under 7 months were on the rise.
