“Swirly Art”: Techniques and Masterpieces of the Experimental and Abstract

Representational space art might be broadly divided into two categories: art that depicts how we will explore the universe, and art that depicts what we might find there. These two categories are analogous to art illustrating the exploration of North America. On the one hand might be drawings and paintings of Conestoga wagons, clipper ships, settlements, and forts. On the other might be artwork depicting mountains, canyons, rivers, and prairies, with scarcely a sign of anything human in sight or so reduced in size as to appear as nearly an afterthought.
