A continuum-based model for a laterally loaded steel pipe pile in layered soils in offshore wind farms

2021
An energy-based method is used in conjunction with continuum mechanics theory to analyze the soil-pile interaction, considering the pile as a Euler-Bernoulli beam and the soil as an elastic medium. The analysis results are presented for a steel pipe pile with a diameter of 1.7 m, a total length of 85.2 m, and an embedment depth of 69 m in a multilayer soil profile. The model can be used in conjunction with suitable soil parameters to rapidly and successfully predict the deflection distribution of the pile. This method serves as a useful reference for predicting the response of slender steel pipe piles subject to lateral loads in offshore wind farms.
