A 4×4 slot MIMO antenna for WLAN application

A printed four element MIMO antenna constitutes with 2 slot elements as a common radiator is proposed in this paper. Individual slot element is fed by a pair of microstrip fed lines. Two different pairs of defected ground structure (DGS) are etched over the slot elements to enhance the isolation between the four ports. The 10 dB return loss bandwidth of the antenna covers 5.6–6.36GHz. The gain of the prototype is 3.95dB. Essential matrices like TARC, ECC and DG are also evaluated to realize the diversity performance.
