An Efficient AC-DC Converter in 28nm Si-Bulk CMOS Technology for Piezo-Powered Medical Implanted Devices

This work introduces an efficient AC-DC converter for medical implanted devices which are powered by piezoelectric generators and ultrasound waves. The proposed topology is based on active full-wave rectifier scheme where a comparator with a body biasing technique has been applied. Simulation results using a 28-nm Si-bulk CMOS technology show promising performance in terms of voltage and power conversion efficiency, up to 98%, when the system is designed to supply up to 2 mW to the implanted devices.
