Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazol-Therapie der AIDS-assoziierten Pneumocystis-Pneumonie-Plasmakonzentrationen und Nebenwirkungen
1990
In 25 episodes of PCP in 17 patients with AIDS and two patients without HIV a high dose treatment with trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole was performed. We measured TMP/SMZ concentrations in 14 patients (16 episodes). With doses ranging from 9/47 to 27/134 mg/kg (median 19/96) we observed plasma concentrations of TMP between 0.5 and 19.5 mg/1 (median 7.5) and SMZ between 53 and 434 mg/1 (median 200). In addition to dose and renal function, the presence of liver disease (i.e. chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis) was correlated with high TMP concentrations
