Background: Parkinson's disease is chronic and progressive illness affecting motor, autonomic and cognitive spheres having a great impact on patient's functionality, becoming totally dependant for care, with great familiar, social and economic costs, deteriorating their quality of life. Objective: To determine the impact on the quality of life related with health in patients who underwent surgical implantation of a deep- brain-stimulation. Patients and methods: We made a longitudinal, prospective, descriptive and open study evaluating patient's quality of life before and after the deep-brain-stimulation collocation (DBS). Results: 15 patients were studied. They improved their Hoehn & Yahr's scale, Schwab & England scale, Motor UPDRS and their quality of life related with health. Conclusion: The surgical implantation of a deep-brain-stimulation in patients with Parkinson's disease greatly improves their quality of life.
