Circulating RNA in blood plasma as a diagnostic marker of breast cancer

2011
The representation patterns of RNA of 15 cytokines were analyzed in blood cells and blood plasma of patients with breast cancer and seemingly healthy women. The relative amount of IL-8 and IL-18 RNA in the plasma of breast cancer patients significantly increased as compared with the control group. At the same time, no obvious differences were found in the relative concentrations of these transcripts in blood cells of patients and control groups. The relative concentration of IL-8 RNA was higher in blood plasma of patients with locally advanced disease compared with early breast cancer patients.
