Organoxenonium salts: Synthesis by xenodeborylation , reactivities, and NMR spectroscopic properties

2007
Organoxenonium(II) salts [RXe]Y are synthesized by the reaction of XeF 2 with the corresponding organo-difluoroboranes, RBF 2 . This general method was successful in case of R = aryl, alkynyl, and alkenyl. Extended to XeF 4 , it allowed the synthesis of [C 6 F 5 XeF 2 ][BF 4 ]. The reactivity of organoxenonium salts is mainly based on the electrophilic nature on the cation. Typical examples of reactivities with different types of nucleophiles (negatively charged, neutral n-and n-nucleophiles) are reported. Multinuclear NMR spectroscopic properties for [RXe]Y and [C 6 F 5 XeF 2 ][BF 4 ] salts in acidic and basic solvents are presented and discussed.
