The Crisis of Agri-Food System and the Challenges of Agricultural History The crisis of Agri-Food System is the start point for analysing the contradictions between a needy of transformation reality and the dominant narratives inside the Agricultural History field. It delves into some underlying reasons that explain this contradiction and which deal, first, with the lack of updating own narrative of the second half of the twentieth century, too focused on economic growth, and, on the other side, with the challenges theoretical and methodological reality raises have not been made entirely within the agrarian historiography in Spain. The article claims the necessary renewal of historiographical discourse from a theoretical and epistemological change in line with advances that have occurred in contemporary science, especially in the field of so-called “Sustainability Science”. Finally it is claimed a narrative that cooperates in real rural problem resolving and in the historic knowledge.
