The authorfirstdraws on hispersonalexperiences and reflectionsconcerninghisprofession, and thenconfrontsthem with the categories of the longueduree and the "eternalhuman" thatprovedfoundational to educationwithinMediterraneanculture. The semanticsphere of thesecategoriesdatesback to the books of the Bible and ismanifestedequally in Einstein’smaxim and through the centuries of Mediterraneanculturallegacy.
