Optimal design of crane girder with hybrid genetic algorithm

Such problems as poor local search ability and premature convergence have been found with the primary genetic algorithm in actual use.In response to this,a hybrid genetic algorithm is put forward which combines powell searching method and genetic algorithm.The actual optimal design of an overhead traveling crane shows that this new method relieves the drawbacks with the primary genetic algorithm and is efficient and reliable.
