Preparation of Cu coated nano SiO_2 composite particles by heterogeneous precipitation

Cu coated nano SiO2 composite particles were prepared by heterogeneous precipitation process. The morphologies, components and structures of the composite particles were characterized by SEM, EDS, XRD and TEM. The effects of pH value of the precipitation solution on the structure and components of the composite particles were studied. The results indicate that the diameter of the Cu coated nano SiO2 composite particles are about 200 nm; the nano SiO2 particles distribute in the composite particles dispersedly and close off by Cu; when the pH value is 2～3 and the reaction temperature is 50 ℃ it is favorable to form the composite particles with core-shell structure.
