Antitumor Activities of Extracts from Trigonostemon Xyphophylloides and Saprosma Merrillii

The anti-tumor activities of extracts ofTrigonostemon xyphophylloidesandSaprosma merrilliiwere screened.The MTT assay was used to test the antitumor activities of the different extracts of both medicinal plants against A549 and MCF-7 in vitro.The ethanol extract of Trigonostemon xyphophylloides and ethyl acetate extract of Saprosma merrillii showed remarkable inhibitory activities against A549.Their IC50 were 31.79 μg/mL and 55.63 μg/mL respectively.The extracts of both plants didn’t show remarkable inhibitory activities against MCF-7.The water extract of Trigonostemon xyphophylloideseven showed great proliferative effects on MCF-7 cell.
