Synthesis of hybrid zeolite disc from layered silicate

Silicalite / mordenite hybrid disc-shaped self-supporting membrane was synthesized from layered silicate such as kanemite by using solid state transformation. Mechanical strength (compression strength) of the disc showed over 10kg/cm 2 . Large differences in morphology and SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 ratio between both sides of the membrane were observed. The upper side (silicalite-side) of the membrane was made up of intergrowths of prism-like crystal morphology (ca. 1–2μm), the down side (mordenite-side) was composed of scale-like crystals (ca.>1 μm).
