A method for adjusting the GPS time approximately a GPS (29) receiver comprising: a) requesting a sequence of predicted navigation bits from a determination entity position (PDE) (18), including the predicted navigation bits a field predicted time indicator; b) receiving the predicted navigation bits in the GPS (29) receptor; c) saving a time of receipt of the predicted navigation bits by the GPS receiver (29); d) locating the time indicator field provided within the predicted navigation bits; e) determining an approximate time value in response to the predicted time indicator field; f) adjusting the approximate GPS time within the GPS (29) in response to the approximate time value and upon receipt receiver.
