VALIDEZ Y CONFIABILIDAD DE UN INSTRUMENTO PARA MEDIR ADICCIÓN AL VALIDEZ Y CONFIABILIDAD DE UN INSTRUMENTO PARA MEDIR ADICCIÓN AL CIBERSEXO 1 Validity and reliability of a scale designed to measure addiction to cybersex

2015
This paper presents three studies that assessed the validity and reliability of the cybersex addiction scale (ISST). The first study assessed the correlation between the ISST and couple satisfaction; the second study assessed the correlation between the ISST, anxiety and depression, as measured by the Beck scales (BAI and BDI); the last study assessed the correlation between the ISST and scales that measure addiction to the Internet (CUPI) and Facebook (CAF). Non-probabilistic samples of college students from Mexico City participated in the study. The results of the first study showed an inverse correlation between the ISST and couple satisfaction. The results of the second study showed a direct correlation between the ISST and the BAI and BDI. Results of the third study showed that the ISST, the CUPI and the CAS maintain a direct correlation. Results are discussed in terms of the reliability and validity of the ISST; results are also discussed in terms of contemporary models that aim to explain addiction to new technologies.
