Study of Fe-Cr-Ni-B-Si Alloy Coating with WC by Plasma Cladding

2009
By plasma cladding technology and appropriate processing parameters,a composite coating with metallurgical bond was prepared on the substrate of Q235 steel using Fe-based alloy with 30% WC.The microstructure of the coating was investigated by OM,SEM,EDS,XRD.The microhardness distribution of coating was tested by microhardness tester. The results show that the WC particles in the composites coating are partly melted into the steel matrix, and the reaction layer of several microns are formed at the interface between WC and Fe-based alloy, which enhances effectively the bonding strength of interface. The coating mainly consists of γ-Fe,WC,Cr23C6,Fe6W6C,and the hardness of cladding layer reaches 580~630HV0.2.
