Nickelocene-mediated glucose oxidase electrode

1993
Nickelocene is investigated as an electrochemical mediator in glucose oxidase (GOD) amperometric electrodes. It is found that the adsorbed nickelocene mediates the charge transfer between the electrode and glucose oxidase adsorbed on the electrode surface. The quasi redox potential of a nickelocene/nickelocenium couple adsorbed on an electrochemically activated pyrolytic graphite electrode is experimentally estimated (−0.105 V vs. Ag/AgCl). The steady-state amperometric response of nickelocene-mediated glucose electrode is investigated as a function of the glucose concentration, applied potential, and solution pH of the electrolyte. The working potential of a nickelocene-mediated glucose electrode is 0.00 V (vs. Ag/AgCl).
