X-ray structure of a new ligand: Di[(4-phenylimino) 4-diethyl salicylaldehyde] ether and electrochemical study of its copper (II) and cobalt (II) complexes

2015
Abstract The present work deals with the synthesis of a new tetradentate Schiff base ligand: di[(4-phenylimino) 4-diethyl salicylaldehyde] ether (H 2 L) which is used to coordinate copper (II) and cobalt (II) leading to bi- and mono-nuclear complexes [Cu 2 L (Cl⋅H 2 O)] and [Co (H 2 L) Cl 2 ] respectively. In addition to the X-ray diffraction of H 2 L, these compounds were characterized by the means of elemental and thermal analyses, infrared, electronic and 1 H NMR spectra. The cyclic voltammograms of the ligand H 2 L as well as its complexes in DMF are also discussed.
