Correlation between genetic polymorphism of cytochrome P4502C19 and coronary artery disease in Uygur patients

2010
Objective To investigate the correlation between the polymorphism of CYP2C19 gene and Uygur patients with coronary heart disease in Xinjiang. Methods The genotypes of the CYP2C19 SNP(rs6583954) were detected with the technique of polymerase chain reaction and analyzed with restriction fragment length polymorphism in 234 patients with coronary heart disease and 132 controls. Results The frequencies of CYP2C19 C and T alleles were 84.83% and 15.17% in coronary heart disease patients, and 78.79% and 21.21% in controls, which showed significant differences between two groups(P0.05).The frequency of CC was 73.1% in coronary heart disease patients, and 61.4% in controls, which showed a significant difference between two groups(P=0.0201).The CYP2C19 polymorphism was still the main risk factor for coronary heart disease in Uygur patients after adjusting the traditional risk factors such as sex, age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and hypercholesterolemia by Logistic analysis. The OR value of genotype CC was 3.25,and the 95%CI was 0.73 to 14.36.The OR value of genotype CT was 1.59,and the 95%CI was 0.34 to 7.35.Conclusion The genetic polymorphism of CYP2C19 may increase the risk for coronary artery disease in Uygur patients.
