Nova Scotia Power Corporation Point Aconi generating station CFB residue management

1991
The purpose is to describe the management plan for handling of combustion residue from the new generating station at Point Aconi, Nova Scotia. The single 165 MWe Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) combustor (Unit No.1) is fuelled by coal from the nearby Prince Mine and uses local limestone as sorbent. The CFB residue management plan involves residue loading, transportation, water conditioning, placement, compaction, and monitoring the landfill. This presentation describes, in particular, the characteristics of the CFB residue, loading at the ash silos, conditioning, transportation to and placement at the site, compaction, final cover, and site revegetation. 5 figs., 6 tabs.
