Material and its selection attributes for improved DSSC

Abstract For sensitising of solar cells many performance indices such as material of glass substrate, its resistivity, dye to be used for sensitising and electrolyte used in the cell are considered. These indices influence merits like low production cost, power conversion efficiencies and easy fabrication for the DSSC. Long-term stability being the main hurdle could be removed with the use of FTO glass substrate with excellent resistivity (up to temperature 600 °C), red cabbage organic dyes extracted with good adsorption coefficient (Δλ = 250 nm) and polymer electrolytes with high fill factor (FF = 0.56) and efficiency (ɳ = 9.58%).
