Switching-speed improvements in PLZT shutters

Abstract Development of up to 152-mm diameter PLZT shutters for the USAF is an ongoing project at Sandia National Laboratories. One of the goals of this development is to attain the same switching speeds achieved in smaller diameter devices. A method is suggested from the use of frequency analysis. In addition, a “constant'’current discharge is substituted for the usual exponential discharge.
