Implementation of network-based signal control system

JR East has developed a network-based signal control system. The control system is digitized with optical fiber cables being laid down to connect a logic unit in a machine room and field signal equipment. This could eliminate the quantity of cables used and simplify the confirmation tests. In Feb. 2007, the first system was implemented at IchikauVa-Ono station in the Musashino line. This paper describes the system implemented and the experiences learned though the implementation.
