Computer Simulation and Optimization of Bend Forging Large Crankthrow for Ship

The process of the conventional bend forging large crankthrow for ship was investigated by computer simulation and actual trial.The typical defects of forging crankthrow were found.The shape of preforming blank after improved process was defined.The shape factors of the preforming blank were optimized.Measures to solve defects were put forward.On the basis of these results,the improved process was simulated by computer.The results show that the improved process can remove these defects,such as horn mouth,reduction,flaw and fine waist.The resistance of bending deformation is 72% that of conventional method.Due to the reduction of blank section,the volume of forging material can be saved about 15%.Finally,the improved process was experimented.Accuracy of the simulation was confirmed.Qualified forgings were gained.
