Animal Bite, Firearm and Ballistic Injuries
2021
Though animal bites, firearm and ballistic injuries are not the routine type of cases in our day-to-day practice, the frequent human-animal interaction, deforestation and violence amongst human race have increased the incidence of these injuries. The significant attention should be given to them as complexity of handling these wounds is different than regular maxillofacial trauma. The occurrence and diversity in the cases seen alongwith great damage to the facial tissues and associated post traumatic psychosocial problems make these type of injuries unique to deal with. In this chapter, we are presenting the concise protocol for the management of such injuries with use of various reconstructive options.
