Start control system of an internal combustion engine and associated start control method

2003
In a starting control system for an internal combustion engine, an output shaft (10) is rotated in a reverse direction at a predetermined direction at the start of the internal combustion engine and is then rotated in a normal direction to start a cranking operation. The system is used for the combustion of fuel in a cylinder (2) in an expansion stroke when the output shaft (10) is rotated in the reverse direction, and the resulting combustion pressure is used to carry out the cranking operation. This makes it possible to reduce the electric motor applied (100) load.
