Phlebic acids C and D, lichen acids from Peltigera aphthosa

Abstract Two new lichen hopane acids designated phlebic acids C and D have been isolated from Peltigera aphthosa . The structure of phlebic acid D was determined by X-ray crystallography to be 7β-acetoxy-22-hydroxyhopan-27-oic acid. This was converted to phlebic acid C which is 22-hydroxyhopan-27-oic acid.
