Solid Phase Extraction of Cu (I) by Bathocuproine Modified on Naphthalene Prior to Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometric Determination

2015
AbstractThe present work describes a solid phase extraction method for the determination of trace amounts of Cu (I) by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The proposed method is based on the complexation of Cu (I) with bathocuproine immobilized on naphthalene by column method. The parameters such as: the ratio of bathocuproine to naphthalene, amount of sorbent, pH effect on the complexation of metal ions, desorption of metals ion from sorbent and sample flow rate were examined. The calibration graph was linear in the range of 100-1500 ng mL−1 with the detection limit of 3.6 ng mL−1. An enrichment factor of 25-fold was obtained. The sorption and desorption of Cu (I) on adsorbent was monitored by FAAS.
