Protective equipment in amateur sport.

Abstract Injuries in amateur sports can be markedly reduced if athletes can be persuaded to wear the proper equipment. Four major sports are reviewed, and an outline given of protective equipment for each, with a description of the commonest injuries for each sport. Fit and maintenance of equipment are stressed.
