Comparative study of the products of the oxidation of solid combustible minerals of different natures
1981
The aim of the reported investigation was to study the structure and, in particular, the aliphatic part of the organic matter of Lipovets rhabdopissite with the aid of the method of oxidative degradation by nitric acid. A concentrate of vitrinite and kuckersite kerogen was subjected to oxidative degradation under the same conditions simultaneously, since vitrinite is the second main component of the Lipovets rhabdopissite, and the oxidation of kuckersite kerogen was performed in order to investigate the stability of aliphatic structures under the conditions of oxidation selected for the rhabdopissite. On the basis of a study of the products of the oxidative degradation of a liptobiolithm, and a sapropelite, substantial differences in the structures of these solid combustible minerals have been found. Degradation products have been identified by chromatography NMR spectroscopy. 14 refs.
