Upon a brief overview of the evolution of autonomy of this province follows an in depth analysis of the question of the right of domicile, language provisions as well as the role of the Governor and Aland Delegation, the Parliament and Government of Aland, division of legislative and executive competence between Aland and Finland and management of Aland's finances. Separate parts of the contribution are dedicated to representation of Aland outside the Aland Islands and to international cooperation (within the Nordic Council and EU).
