Formation of VI-B Group Metal Silicides from Molten Salts
2019
Disilicide coatings MSi2 (M – Cr, Mo, W) were successfully prepared by currentless deposition on the surface of metallic chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten from chloride-fluoride silicon containing melts in the presence of elemental silicon. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to study the structure of coatings obtained. Oxidation resistance of obtained chromium disilicide coating was investigated in air up to 1000 °C by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis (DSC/TGA) methods.
