Establishment of sexual origin of bones exposed to high temperatures in the forensic identification of the victims

2019
The objective of the paper was to describe the experience of the authors of the experimental study of burned bones with the purpose of determining the sex of bone remains exposed to high temperature during the identification of the deceased. Material and methods. All long tubular bones of people aged 20 (that is, after the closure of growth zones) to 92 years were selected as the material for experimental studies. Conclusions. The conducted research has shown the possibility of establishing the sex of long tubular bones by individual fragments or characteristics based on a five-interval estimation of the numerical values of the selected characteristics. The precision solution to the problem increases with the use of several characteristics of one bone.
