A novel material for EMI shielding based on carbon nano materials

2019
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) has adverse effects on the functioning of electronic equipment which leads to an inferior performance, and hence it has to be eliminated or controlled as much as possible, which is done through electromagnetic shielding. This paper deals with the estimation of the shielding effectiveness of Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon nano- fibers (CNFs) based epoxy nanocomposites for EMI shielding. It also deals with the analysis of the electrical properties of CNTs and CNFs based epoxy nanocomposites. Preparation of the 0.01wt% CNTs and 0.05wt% CNFs epoxy nanocomposite has been done and morphology of the sample has been analysed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM ). Analysis of the electrical properties of the sample is also performed and shielding effectiveness of the sample has been estimated. COM SOL MULTIPHYSICS 5.0 has been used for the analysis of shielding effectiveness of carbon nanotubes and carbon nanofibers based epoxy nanocomposites.
