To the Editor: We read with interest the article, “Association between obesity and mortality after first ever stroke: The obesity–stroke paradox” by Vemmos et al1 that was published in Stroke . It is interesting to learn that not only the mortality was less during acute stage of stroke in the patients with high body mass index but also the long-term mortality and death attributable to recurrent stroke were also less in patients with high body mass index.
