Alkylation of p -cresol with cyclohexene in the presence of benzenesulphonic acid
1996
2-Cyclohexyl-4-metylphenol was obtained in high yield by the alkylation of p-cresol with cyclohexene in the presence of benzenesulphonic acid. The effect of variation of parameters on the reaction has been investigated. 2-Cyclohexyl-4-methylphenol was further converted to 2,6-dicyclohexyl-4-methylphenol.
