Evaluation of grafts of Norway spruce in the conservation archives of endangered populations of IPTNS-IUFRO 1964/68 experiment in Krynica

2016
In this study, the analysis of the height, quality and vitality of clones which make the conservation archives of the IPTNSIUFRO 1964/1968 experiment in Krynica was carried out. The archive protects 19.5% of population collected in the IUFRO experiment. Success performance of the archive was 92.75%. Grafts were mostly characterized by a simple narrow and a complete health status. The height of clones ranged from an average of 45.81 cm to 147.64 cm, depending on the clone collection. High success performance of the archive and the positive features of the clones indicate the possibility of further effective implementation of grafting and conservation of genetic resources of subsequent populations of Norway spruce included in the largest inventory experiment with this species.
