Construction of a Digital Hydrologic Soil Group Map for Argentina to Simulate Runoff Using GIS – Hydrologic Models

2008
A digital hydrologic soil group map for Argentina was built based on the drainage classes included in the INTA digital soil atlas of Argentina, scale 1:500,000. Soil shape files from all provinces were merged in a unique shape file for the whole territory and a field for Hydrologic Groups was created. The hydrologic groups (A, B, C and D) were assigned for all soil units according to the drainage classes: Group A to “excessively drained”, “somewhat excessively drained” and “well drained” soils; Group B to “moderately well drained” soils; Group C to “imperfectly drained” soils; and Group D to “poorly” and “ very poorly drained” soils.
