Comparison of Helicobacter pylori eradicative regimens

2006
Objective To compare the Helicobacter pylori treatment regimens among clinic out-patients in the hospital. Methods Treatment regimens were compared among patients who were diagnosed as Helicobacter pylori infection according to endoscopic biopsic pathology and received Helicobacter pylori eradicative therapy from Nov 2002 to Oct 2004 in the clinic. The investigated patients had integrated information.Among 789 patients,376 patients were in proton pump inhibitor group,303 patients in bismuth group and 110 patients in proton pump inhibitor+bismuth group, respectively.Omeprazol group included home omeprazole subgroup 140 patients and imported omeprazole subgroup 197 patients.Proton pump inhibitor+amoxicillin group comprised 327 patients and bismuth+amoxicillin group 270 patients, respectively.Proton pump inhibitor+clarithromycin group comprised 174 patients and bismuth+clarithromycin group 61 patients, respectively.Proton pump inhibitor+metronidazole group consisted of 82 patients and bismuth+metronidazole group 98 patients, respectively.Proton pump inhibitor+tinidazole group consisted of 163 patients and bismuth+tinidazole group 152 patients, respectively.Eradication was assessed by()~(13)Curea breath test after one month of treatment. Results The result from 789 patients showed that the eradicative rates in bismuth group and in proton pump inhibitor group were(63.7)%,(71.0)%,respectively.There was significant difference between two groups(P=(0.043)).The eradicative rates in bismuth+amoxicillin+other antibiotic group and in proton pump inhibitor+amoxicillin+other antibiotic group were(65.2)%,(75.8)%,respectively,with significant difference,too(P=(0.004)).Conclustion Proton pump inhibitor-based treatment regiments are better than bismuth-based treatment regiments in the patients with Helicobacter pylori infection.
