Elastic Modulus and Structure Changes in TiNi during SME and RSME

2018
The direct (SME) and thereversible (RSME) shape memory effectsare governed by structural changes caused by previous plastic deformation of alloys that undergo reversible martensitic transformations (RMT). This paper place high emphasis onthe effect ofprior plastic deformation by tension onthe structure, electrical resistivity, dynamic elasticmodulus E along with SME/RSME and critical temperatures of RMT, using TiNi alloy with initial martensitic structure B19.The results show that in the critical RMT interval, during heating or cooling, E goes through minimum value, indicating the loss of elastic stiffness of the original phase.Systematic studies allowed authors to develop the original ideas on the processes that accompany the accumulation and recovery of reversible deformation in SME/RSME realization.
